Such are our "mini-festivals" on major Jewish holidays, with a lecture/round table discussion related to the holiday, movie screenings, exhibitions, installations, workshops and concerts presenting contemporary Jewish culture. Such holidays are Tubisvath, Purim, Sukkot, Simchat Torah, Lagbaomer and Chanukah. There are ca. 500-1000 visitors per event. We always look for partners from the Jewish and non-Jewish world to be part of our events and we work with volunteers. On other holidays (e.g. kabbalath shabbath, Rosh Hashana, Seder night) we gather in smaller circle for celebration and learning. These are events of Marom's eglaitarian minyen "Dor Chadash" that has ca. 40 regular members by now. In the summer we organise our Jewstock festival on the Hungarian countryside with rich international Jewish musical, art and educational program. Marom operates the website www.pilpul.net, the ultimate Jewish academic and cultural magazine of Hungary, run by Marom members since 2005. In 2009 we are launching a Social Action Exchange program, a study group about social justice and Judaism. |
